Creating a bootable ISO USB drive

  1. Format the USB disk with FAT32
  2. Download the ISO image for the given distribution (NET or DVD edition, 64bit)
  3. insert the USB disk and find the device link by df -h after mounting it. for example /dev/sdb1
  4. unmount the device: sudo umount /dev/sdb1
  5. copy the downloaded ISO image onto the USB drive. Beware to use the device name as target without the partition number (e.g. /dev/sdb and not /dev/sdb1)
    1. sudo dd if=path_to_ISO_file.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4M status=progress && sync
